Carpenter pitches Cards by Dodgers 6-1 (AP)

Los Angeles Dodgers' Manny Ramirez(notes), center, reacts to striking out to end the game as St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina(notes) heads out to celebrate at the end of a baseball game, Monday, July 27, 2009, in St. Louis. The Cardinals beat the Dodgers 6-1.

The Los Angeles Dodgers bunched nine hits off Chris Carpenter. Not much to show for it against the stingy Cardinals ace, though. Carpenter got the key outs and relied on a defense that turned four double plays to wrap up an undefeated month, and Brendan Ryan matched a career high with four hits in a 6-1 victory on Monday night.
