Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez received a cortisone shot in his injured left shoulder Tuesday and hoped to be back in Chicago's lineup by Friday at the latest. Chipper Jones returned to Atlanta's lineup Tuesday night and the Braves also activated infielder Omar Infante from the disabled list. M's 3B Beltre back after 5-week absence (AP)
Seattle Mariners third baseman Adrian Beltre is back in the lineup after a five-week absence. The Mariners activated Beltre from the disabled list Tuesday and designated infielder Chris Woodward for assignment. Beltre had surgery June 30 to remove a bone spur from his left shoulder. He was expected to be out six to eight weeks but recovered quickly.
Reds 3B Rolen's head CT scan normal (AP)
Third baseman Scott Rolen got a CT scan that came back normal, an indication he could be back in the Cincinnati Reds' lineup within a few days. Rolen was beaned on the left side of the head by a pitch from Jason Marquis on Sunday. He sat out a 4-2 loss to Chicago on Monday night due to dizziness and a headache.

Nats 3B Zimmerman out with sore shoulder (AP)
Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman was held out of the starting lineup Tuesday night against Florida because of a sore left shoulder. Zimmerman was hit by a pitch from Pittsburgh's Charlie Morton in the sixth inning of Monday's 8-4 victory over Pittsburgh. The soreness apparently got worse as the night went on, even though Zimmerman hit a two-run homer in the seventh.
