A’s win third straight series, beat O’s (AP)

Landon Powell homered in Oakland's four-run fourth inning, and the Athletics beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 on Wednesday to win a third straight series for the first time since April 2008. Rookie Vin Mazzaro (4-8) allowed three runs, two earned, in 5 1-3 innings to post his second consecutive win after an eight-game skid.

Orioles end 9-game skid against A’s, 3-2 (AP)

David Hernandez outpitched Trevor Cahill in a duel between rookie right-handers, and the Baltimore Orioles ended a nine-game losing streak against the Oakland Athletics with a 3-2 victory Tuesday night. Brian Roberts had three hits, an RBI and two stolen bases for the Orioles, who had been outscored 30-6 in their previous four games against Oakland this season.

Halladay wins 10th straight over Orioles (AP)

Adam Lind hit a one-out double in the 10th inning to score the winning run, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 on Saturday. Joe Inglett led off the inning with a single off Danys Baez (4-6), and after he was forced out at second on a bunt by Marco Scutaro, Aaron Hill singled just beyond the outstretched glove of second baseman Ty Wigginton.

Orioles LHP Hill has shoulder surgery (AP)

Baltimore Orioles left-hander Rich Hill has had season-ending shoulder surgery. Manager Dave Trembley said before Saturday's game at Toronto that the operation was on Friday. Tigers rookie Porcello earns 10th win (AP)

Avila, who started at catcher for the Tigers Thursday, went from being a fifth-round pick out of the University of Alabama last June to the majors in less than 14 months.

Brandon Inge hit a two-run homer in a four-run second inning and Rick Porcello didn't give up a hit until the fifth, helping the Detroit Tigers coast to a 7-3 win against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. The Tigers won three of four games in the series to stay atop the AL Central, heading into a matchup with the third-place Minnesota Twins.

Edwin Jackson took a shutout into the ninth inning, Magglio Ordonez homered and the Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 Wednesday night. Jackson (8-5) allowed two runs on three hits, walking two and striking out eight. He has allowed two runs in 16 innings over two starts against Baltimore this season.

O’s recall LHP Matusz to make MLB debut (AP)

The Baltimore Orioles recalled left-hander Brian Matusz from Double-A Bowie and started him against Detroit on Tuesday night in his major league debut. Matusz was 7-0 with a 1.55 ERA in eight starts with Bowie. Before being promoted from Class-A Frederick, he was 4-2 with a 2.16 ERA in 11 starts. For 15 minutes Monday, the Baltimore Orioles made Justin Verlander look like one of baseball's worst pitchers. It didn't last. The Detroit ace allowed five runs before getting his second out, but didn't give up another in his eight innings of work, allowing the Tigers to rally for a 6-5 victory.

Clete Thomas homered with two outs in the ninth to give the Detroit Tigers a 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night. Baltimore led 5-0 with one out in the top of the first, but never scored again. The game was tied at 5 going into the ninth, and Danys Baez (4-5) retired the first two batters, but Thomas hit a 1-2 pitch into the shrubs above the fence in center.
