Beckett first to 14 wins as Red Sox roll (AP)

Josh Beckett pitched seven strong innings for his major league-high 14th win, Mike Lowell and Jason Bay homered and the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 8-2 Wednesday night. The Red Sox won their third in a row and sent AL Central-leading Detroit to its fourth loss in five games. Boston has won seven straight against the Tigers.

Mike Lowell, who entered the game after Kevin Youkilis was ejected for charging the mound and inciting a bench-clearing scuffle, hit two home runs to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 7-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night. Lowell hit a solo homer in the third to break a 3-3 tie, then added a two-run shot in the fifth to make it 6-3.

Yanks rally to cap 4-game sweep of BoSox (AP)

Johnny Damon and Mark Teixeira hit back-to-back homers in the eighth inning Sunday night, and the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 5-2 to finish their first four-game home sweep of their bitter rival in 24 years. Victor Martinez hit a two-run homer off Phil Coke (4-3) in the top of the eighth, snapping Boston's 31-inning scoreless streak and making it 2-1.

The New York Yankees activated right-hander Chad Gaudin before Sunday night's game against the Boston Red Sox, giving them an extra arm in the bullpen and someone who could make a spot start if necessary. The Yankees acquired Gaudin from the San Diego Padres last week for cash or a player to be named later.

Waiting well past midnight for a clutch hit — any hit, really — Alex Rodriguez provided a big one. Rodriguez broke up an electric pitchers' duel in the 15th inning with his first homer in three weeks, giving the New York Yankees a 2-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Friday night. "Both teams were remarkable," Rodriguez said.

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees have played all night, and are still waiting for someone to score a run. The teams were scoreless through 13 innings as midnight approached Friday.
