Scott Rolen tried to put an end to his feud with Tony La Russa, stopping by the Cardinals manager's office Monday in his first trip back to Busch Stadium since his trade almost two seasons ago. The Cincinnati Reds' third baseman is out indefinitely with concussion-related symptoms after being beaned by the Cubs' Jason Marquis, and is unlikely to play during a three-game series against…

Capps hits Pujols, ejected as Cards win (AP)
Skip Schumaker's first career pinch-hit home run started a five-run eighth-inning rally for St. Louis that included Pirates pitcher Matt Capps' ejection for hitting Albert Pujols, and the Cardinals finished off a three-game sweep by winning 7-3 Sunday. Cards RHP Thompson to appeal suspension (AP)

Pujols has 2 HRs, slam in 10th keys win (AP)
St. Louis manager Tony La Russa repeated the same thing over and over again during Albert Pujols' brief slump. "I said he's smart. He'll fix it," La Russa said. "He fixed it tonight." Boy, did he. Pujols hit a grand slam in the 10th inning for his second homer of the game and the Cardinals rallied to beat the sliding New York Mets 12-7 on Tuesday.

Carpenter pitches Cards by Dodgers 6-1 (AP)
The Los Angeles Dodgers bunched nine hits off Chris Carpenter. Not much to show for it against the stingy Cardinals ace, though. Carpenter got the key outs and relied on a defense that turned four double plays to wrap up an undefeated month, and Brendan Ryan matched a career high with four hits in a 6-1 victory on Monday night.
