The Cleveland Indians have traded infielder Andy Cannizaro to the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations. The Indians announced Thursday that Cannizaro will be assigned to Charlotte, Chicago's Triple-A affiliate. He was batting .269 with one homer and 19 RBIs in 50 games at Triple-A Columbus. Cannizaro, 30, was selected by the New York Yankees in the seventh round of the 2001 draft.

Griffey lifts M’s over ChiSox 1-0 in 14 (AP)
Never in Mariners history had one run taken so long — and felt so good. Pinch-hitter Ken Griffey Jr. lined a single off the right-field wall with two outs in the bottom of the 14th to give the Mariners a 1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night and end the longest scoreless game in Seattle's 33-year history.

ChiSox RHP Peavy to start rehab Thursday (AP)
Jake Peavy will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday after throwing off the mound Saturday, and the Chicago White Sox's recently acquired right-hander could be back in the big leagues this month. Peavy is scheduled to start Thursday for Charlotte and is expected to throw two to three innings.

Kelly Shoppach hit a two-run homer and added a solo shot, leading the Cleveland Indians to a 6-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night. The Indians won despite grounding into six double plays, tying an American League record for the 14th time. Even after trading Cliff Lee, Victor Martinez and Ryan Garko, the Indians continued their recent surge, winning 11 of their last 16 games.

Thome’s 2 HRs lift White Sox over Angels (AP)
Jim Thome homered twice, giving him 561 for his career, and Gavin Floyd pitched into the ninth Wednesday night as the Chicago White Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-2 for their fifth win in six games. Podsednik’s hit in 9th lifts White Sox (AP)
Scott Podsednik is making a nice run at the AL Comeback Player of the Year award and he might be a most unlikely team MVP. Picked up off the scrap heap in April, Podsednik on Tuesday night delivered his third game-ending hit this season. His RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning lifted the Chicago White Sox to a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
Angels activate Guerrero from DL (AP)
The Los Angeles Angels have activated Vladimir Guerrero from the disabled list, and the eight-time All-Star was in the lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox. Guerrero missed the previous 21 games with a strained left calf and a strained lower left hamstring. It was his second stint on the DL; he missed 35 games with a torn chest muscle.

Melky Cabrera became the 15th Yankees player and their first in 14 years to hit for the cycle, leading New York to an 8-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon. Cabrera hit a three-run homer in the second to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead, doubled in the fourth and chased Mark Buehrle (11-5) with an RBI single in the fifth.
