Hunter Pence hit a pair of three-run homers for a career-high six RBIs, powering the Houston Astros to a 14-6 victory over the Florida Marlins on Wednesday night. Pence's home runs highlighted a five-run first inning and a seven-run fourth that chased Ricky Nolasco (8-8). Florida had won five in a row.

Dan Uggla hit a game-ending RBI single in the 11th inning, and the Florida Marlins rallied to beat the Houston Astros 9-8 Tuesday night for their fifth straight win. Chris Coghlan started the inning with a walk off Wesley Wright (2-2), then Nick Johnson walked. After Hanley Ramirez and Jorge Cantu struck out, John Baker walked to load the bases.

Marlins win fourth straight, beat Astros (AP)

Rick VandenHurk pitched five effective innings, five Florida players had at least one RBI and the Marlins beat the Houston Astros 8-6 on Monday night for their fourth straight win. John Baker had two RBIs, and NL batting leader Hanley Ramirez had two singles and an RBI to help chase starter Brian Moehler (7-8) after five innings.

Aaron Boone back after heart surgery (AP)

Aaron Boone is back playing baseball, appearing in a minor league game in Texas less than five months after open-heart surgery. Boone batted second Monday night for the Corpus Christi Hooks, a Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. He swung at the first pitch and popped up to the first baseman in foul territory.

Astros’ Hampton leaves with knee sprain (AP)

Houston Astros' left-hander Mike Hampton left Saturday's start against Milwaukee after two innings with a right knee sprain. Hampton gave up three runs on five hits in 48 pitches. Astros’ Erstad activated, Brocail on DL (AP)

The Houston Astros activated Darin Erstad and placed right-handed reliever Doug Brocail on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a right shoulder strain. The 35-year-old Erstad was starting at first base for the Astros on Friday night, the opener of a three-game series with Milwaukee. Erstad had been on the disabled list since July 19 with a left hamstring strain.

Jonathan Sanchez earned his first road victory of 2009 almost a month after throwing his first no-hitter. The Houston Astros felt like they got lucky against San Francisco ace Matt Cain. Geoff Blum and Kaz Matsui homered and Cain's six-start unbeaten streak was snapped with the Astros' 4-3 win over the Giants on Monday night. "Guys like that have to make mistakes in order for you to beat them," Houston manager Cecil Cooper said.
