Manny Ramirez is not one to get overly excited about a potential sweep in August, or even a hitting funk here or there. Ramirez hit a towering two-run homer and also doubled in a run after two earlier intentional walks and the Los Angeles Dodgers routed the rival San Francisco Giants 9-1 on Tuesday night.

Matt Kemp hit a three-run double to back a strong effort from Hiroki Kuroda and help the slumping Los Angeles Dodgers win the opener of their key three-game series against the San Francisco Giants, 4-2 Monday night. The first meeting in three months between the longtime foes was a highly anticipated matchup as the Giants had closed within 5 1/2 games of the first-place Dodgers in the NL West.

Javier Vazquez won his fifth straight decision with eight solid innings and the Atlanta Braves beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-2 on Sunday to take three of the four games in their weekend series. Vazquez (10-7) reached double digits in wins for the 10th consecutive season, handing the NL West-leading Dodgers their 10th loss in 15 games.
