Guerrero’s 400th HR helps Angels by Rays (AP)

Vladimir Guerrero homered twice, including the 400th of his career to put the Angels ahead in the seventh inning, Kendry Morales also hit two homers, and the Los Angeles Angels went on to an 8-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night. Guerrero extended his hitting streak to a season-high 12 games a week after coming off the disabled list for the second time this season.

Kemp leads Dodgers past Giants 4-2 (AP)

Matt Kemp hit a three-run double to back a strong effort from Hiroki Kuroda and help the slumping Los Angeles Dodgers win the opener of their key three-game series against the San Francisco Giants, 4-2 Monday night. The first meeting in three months between the longtime foes was a highly anticipated matchup as the Giants had closed within 5 1/2 games of the first-place Dodgers in the NL West.

Tulowitzki hits for cycle, Rockies win (AP)

Troy Tulowitzki hit for the cycle and had a career-high seven RBIs to help Colorado beat the Chicago Cubs 11-5 on Monday night. Tulowitzki, who had a grand slam denied in the first video review at Coors Field, came to bat to lead off the seventh a triple shy of the franchise's fifth cycle and first in nine years.

Red Sox end 6-game skid, beat Tigers 6-5 (AP)

Nick Green hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly and one of Boston's three homers as the Red Sox ended their three-game power outage and six-game losing streak with a 6-5 win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday night. The Red Sox, who scored just two runs in the final three games of a four-game sweep by the Yankees in New York, squandered a 5-3 lead when Manny Delcarmen allowed two runs in the seventh.

Sheffield wants to stay with Mets (AP)

Gary Sheffield wants to stay in New York despite the Mets' struggles. "My preference is to stay here," Sheffield said Monday night before the Mets played the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was out of the lineup because of a balky hamstring. "I don't want to talk about" a trade. The Mets signed Sheffield as a free agent April 4 after he was released by Detroit, which is playing…

Marlins win fourth straight, beat Astros (AP)

Rick VandenHurk pitched five effective innings, five Florida players had at least one RBI and the Marlins beat the Houston Astros 8-6 on Monday night for their fourth straight win. John Baker had two RBIs, and NL batting leader Hanley Ramirez had two singles and an RBI to help chase starter Brian Moehler (7-8) after five innings.

Aaron Boone back after heart surgery (AP)

Aaron Boone is back playing baseball, appearing in a minor league game in Texas less than five months after open-heart surgery. Boone batted second Monday night for the Corpus Christi Hooks, a Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. He swung at the first pitch and popped up to the first baseman in foul territory.

Yankees great Mantle’s widow dies at 77 (AP)

The widow of New York Yankees great Mickey Mantle has died at a hospice facility in Plano, Texas. She was 77. Family spokesman Marty Appel said Monday night that Merlyn Mantle died from the effects of Alzheimer's disease. She had not appeared in public since last August, at a private dinner before a memorial for former Yankees star Bobby Murcer.

White Sox get Jays OF Rios off waivers (AP)

Alex Rios showed up at Yankee Stadium and saw his name in the starting lineup Monday night. He left the ballpark a few hours later, on his way to join the White Sox and a pennant race. The two-time All-Star was claimed off waivers by Chicago and learned the news about 30 minutes before the first pitch between the Blue Jays and New York Yankees.
