Pinch-hitter Ken Griffey Jr. lined a single off the right-field wall with two outs in the bottom of the 14th to give the Mariners a 1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night and end the longest scoreless game in Seattle's 33-year history.

Davis' 2-run triple in 9th lifts A's (AP)
Pinch hitter Rajai Davis tripled down the right field line to drive in two runs and lift the Oakland Athletics to a 3-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Monday night. C.J. Wilson (4-5) blew his third save in 16 chances after allowing singles to Jack Cust, Tommy Everidge and Mark Ellis, before Davis' triple.

Mets activate OF Sheffield, Putz throws (AP)
Gary Sheffield was activated from the disabled list Sunday but the Mets outfielder was left out of the starting lineup against Arizona right-hander Jon Garland. Matt Holliday had four hits for the second time in his eight games with the St. Louis Cardinals and scored the go-ahead run on Rick Ankiel's eighth-inning single in a 4-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Friday night. Pinch-hitter Matt Kata's RBI single put Houston ahead in the top of the eighth, before the Cardinals rallied for two runs in the bottom half.
