Aaron Laffey pitched effectively into the seventh inning to remain undefeated at home, and the Cleveland Indians beat the Texas Rangers 5-0 Tuesday night. The resurgent Indians improved to 13-6 since losing 21 of 28 from June 15 to July 19. Texas came in tied with Boston for the wild card lead in the AL, but fell to 3-5 in August.

Vladimir Guerrero homered twice, including the 400th of his career to put the Angels ahead in the seventh inning, Kendry Morales also hit two homers, and the Los Angeles Angels went on to an 8-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night. Guerrero extended his hitting streak to a season-high 12 games a week after coming off the disabled list for the second time this season.

Rockies SS Tulowitzki hits for cycle (AP)

Troy Tulowitzki has hit for the cycle in the Rockies' game against the Cubs, getting a triple in the seventh inning to become the fifth Colorado player to achieve the feat. Tulowitzki homered in the first, singled in the second and doubled in the fourth Monday as part of a 4-for-4 night. He also tied a career high with five RBIs.

BoSox’s Ramirez tossed for hitting A-Rod (AP)

Boston pitcher Ramon Ramirez was ejected in the seventh inning against the New York Yankees after hitting Alex Rodriguez with a pitch. A day after the Yankees won 2-0 in 15 innings to open a 4 1/2 -game AL East lead, Ramirez replaced Clay Buchholz to start the inning and nearly hit Mark Teixeira with a pitch before walking him with one out in the seventh Saturday.

Reliever Alfredo Aceves (7-1) pitched two innings for the victory as the Yankees used a four-run seventh inning to win their third straight overall after losing three in a row in Chicago.
