All-Star shortstop Derek Jeter left the New York Yankees' game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday with a bruised right foot. Jeter staggered away from the plate after Ricky Romero's pitch struck him on his right foot in the first inning but opted to stay in after a visit from manager Joe Girardi and a trainer.

Hideki Matsui and Jorge Posada hit back-to-back homers leading off the eighth inning and the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-5 on Tuesday night for their eighth win in nine games. Matsui hit a 3-2 pitch from Jesse Carlson (1-5) deep to right to tie it at 4 and Posada followed with an opposite-field drive that just got over the glove of leaping right fielder Joe Inglett.

Jays promote INF Ruiz to fill Rios’ spot (AP)

The Toronto Blue Jays have promoted infielder Randy Ruiz from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill Alex Rios' roster spot. The Blue Jays selected Ruiz's contract and put him in the starting lineup Tuesday night against the New York Yankees. He was batting sixth as the designated hitter. The 31-year-old Ruiz, a Bronx native, hit .320 with 25 homers and 106 RBIs in 114 games with Las Vegas.

Rolen out with concussion-like symptoms (AP)

Reds third baseman Scott Rolen has been scratched from Saturday's starting lineup against the San Francisco Giants because he is experiencing concussion-like symptoms. He will be examined in Cincinnati on Sunday. Rolen was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays just before the trade deadline for pitching prospects Josh Roenicke and Zach Stewart, and infielder Edwin Encarnacion.

Lind lifts Blue Jays past Orioles in 10 (AP)

Adam Lind hit a one-out double in the 10th inning to score the winning run, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 on Saturday. Joe Inglett led off the inning with a single off Danys Baez (4-6), and after he was forced out at second on a bunt by Marco Scutaro, Aaron Hill singled just beyond the outstretched glove of second baseman Ty Wigginton.

After finishing off a two-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays, the New York Yankees set their sights on beating the Boston Red Sox for the first time this season. Johnny Damon hit a solo home run and had three RBIs, Nick Swisher also connected and the Yankees beat the Blue Jays 8-4 on Wednesday night.
